Chester, MD April 29, 2024 – Haven Ministries has received $5,000 from The Women & Girls Fund of the Mid Shore in support of the "Homes of Hope Case Management & Client Education Program". Haven Ministries will use the gift to provide services to the clients enrolled in the Homes of Hope Housing program located in Stevensville, MD.

“We are greatly appreciative of this gift from the Women & Girls Fund of the Mid Shore.  Their dedication to serving the needs of women and girls in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties, Maryland is helping improve the lives of many underfunded programs on Maryland’s Mid Shore” said Peter Grim, Executive Director of Haven Ministries.

The (2) Homes of Hope provide a long-term housing assistance program with year round services. The program allows individuals and families to apply for help and is structured as a landlord-tenant relationship. Many of the clients are women and girls. The goal of the Housing Assistance Program is to offer clients the tools needed to successfully move to safe and affordable housing.

About The Women & Girls Fund of the Mid-Shore

The Women & Girls Fund started in 2002 as the grassroots effort of a group of women looking for an effective way to address significant local problems.  It is an endowed fund that channels the pooled resources of individuals into a powerful and permanent legacy to improve the lives of women and girls on Maryland ’s Mid-Shore.  Their goals are:

  • To understand the needs of women & girls throughout the Mid-Shore and to raise awareness of these needs in our communities

  • To support under-funded programs and initiatives that aid women and girls

  • To facilitate collaborative efforts among existing agencies and programs and to encourage public/private partnerships

  • To engage the philanthropic instincts of all women by providing venues in which their resources of money, time, and talent can be used

  • To educate the next generation and cultivate a tradition of philanthropy for future generations.
