On Saturday, November 9, 2024 Haven Ministries will host its seventh annual Beef, Bonfires & Cigar event at Prospect Bay Country Club located at 301 Prospect Bay Dr W., Grasonville.
The goal of the event is to raise funds and bring awareness to ‘Homelessness & Hunger Awareness Week’ in November, a nationwide week of action where people draw attention to poverty – including hunger and homelessness.
Many Americans are living on the edge, forced to choose between necessities like purchasing food, paying rent, or going to the doctor. According to the United Census Bureau, 37.9 million Americans live below the poverty level, including one in six children. In Queen Anne’s county 6.86% of the population or 3,420 out of 4,990 people live below the poverty line and 10.5% of the children living in Queen Anne's County are living in poverty.
“Due to rising costs of everything today, we continue to see an increase in demand particularly for food and shelter. This event will help us continue to provide essential services to housing & food insecure families and individuals in Queen Anne’s County,” states Peter Grim, Executive Director of Haven Ministries.
This signature fundraiser is an In-door/Outdoor event featuring Live Grilling, Outdoor Fires, Bourbon Tastings, Cigar Sales and Music to create a Fun Fall Evening! Check in begins at 5pm with a cocktail hour featuring a raw oyster bar, bourbon tastings, and open bar with premium beer & wine! Buffet dinner will include carving stations and seasonal enhancements. Participants will be able to purchase one-of-a-kind art, jewelry, dining options, trips and experiences like wine tastings and spa treatments, and sports memorabilia in the silent auction.
All funds raised will benefit Haven Ministries' programs including Shelter, Clothing, Food and Resources. Attending the event is a great way to have an enjoyable evening while helping those in need. The cost is $125 pp including unlimited beer & wine and $100 pp without beer & wine through October 25th.
If you can’t make it to this event, donations to Haven Ministries are always welcome. The fall season kicks off the time of greatest need for under-resourced individuals.
