On March 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 16 from noon to 4 p.m., Hope Warehouse in Queenstown will hold its grand re-opening to celebrate its recent renovations. The event will include live music by local musician Justin Ryan on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., refreshments, and raffles.
The Warehouse, which has been open since 2018, offers high-quality furniture of all styles, appliances, electronics, tool sets, power tools and equipment, sporting goods, art, and home decor. The renovations include improved parking, painting, and new lighting to showcase the many affordable, high-quality items sold in the warehouse. Proceeds from the Warehouse support Haven Ministries' other ministries in the community, including its seasonal homeless shelter and Jacob Sloan Day Center in Stevensville, Homes of Hope long-term housing assistance program, emergency food pantry in Queenstown, and food pantry satellite location in Sudlersville, thrift store in Chester, street outreach, and resource center and benevolence fund.
According to Amanda James, Haven Ministries Food Pantry Director who is overseeing the warehouse renovations, “We are hoping with these improvements we can become Queen Anne's County’s favorite furniture warehouse store. We have differentiated between the items we accept at our Daily Thread Thrift Store in Chester and Hope Warehouse. The Thrift Store focuses on donations of clothing, accessories, and household items like dishes and kitchen items. The Warehouse will focus on larger items for the home, as well as reasonably priced household items, tools, and power equipment.”
James shares that the demand for Haven Ministries' services has increased dramatically over the last year. The food pantry now serves around 400 to 450 families each month, which include 1350 individuals, as well as 25 to 30 households a day through its food pantry truck.
As the warehouse readies for its re-opening, Haven Ministries is accepting donations. Pickups for larger furniture are offered by the warehouse once a week and can be arranged by calling the warehouse at 410-490-8498. Hope Warehouse is also currently hiring a Warehouse Manager and is looking for more volunteers to help with receiving donated items and merchandising.
Hope Warehouse is located at 6527 Friel's Road in Queenstown and is open Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m., closed on Mondays, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For further information, visit www.haven-ministries.org. For information about the re-opening, donations, or to volunteer at Hope Warehouse, contact Amanda James at 410-490-8498.
